What AreNetworked Lighting Controls?
Networked lighting controls connect your LED fixtures, sensors and controllers so your lighting responds to how each part of the building is actually used. Lights dim or switch off in empty areas, ease back when daylight comes in, and follow the schedule of each zone, without anyone touching a switch.
Unlike standalone sensors, which each control one fixture or one room and have to be adjusted at the device, a networked system is managed as a whole. Zones, schedules and light levels change in software from a phone or tablet when a shift pattern changes or a space is repurposed.
Controls work best when they are specified with the LED retrofit, and Think Green designs, installs and programs both as one project.
What Networked Controls Do
Commercial lighting controls cut energy in different ways. Most facilities combine several strategies, set zone by zone. At Canadian Tire Georgetown, the 2025 refresh gave the warehouse areas new fixtures with lighting controls for additional savings.
Occupancy sensing
Lights switch off or dim when an area is empty and come back up when someone walks in, in offices, washrooms, aisles and storage areas.
Daylight harvesting
Fixtures near windows and skylights dim automatically when daylight is available, keeping light levels steady while drawing less power.
Scheduling
Each zone follows its own schedule for shifts, weekends and holidays, so lights are not left on in an empty building.
Dimming and light levels
Fixtures are tuned to the light level each space needs instead of running at full output all day.
Zoning
Fixtures are grouped by area, so a loading dock, a production line and an office can each run on different settings.
Control from a phone or tablet
Change zones, light levels and schedules from a phone or tablet as your operations change.
Programmed, Commissionedand Optimized After Handover
Controls only save what they are set up to save, and a system that is never revisited drifts out of step with how the building is used. Think Green stays with the system: we design it, program it, commission it on site and keep adjusting it after handover.
Design
We lay out sensors, zones and control strategies alongside the lighting layout and photometrics, based on how each area of your facility is used.
Programming
Schedules, sensor timeouts, daylight settings and light levels are programmed zone by zone before handover.
Commissioning
We test and confirm every zone on site, so the system does what it was designed to do from day one.
Ongoing changes and optimization
When shifts change, a space is repurposed or you want more savings, our team updates the settings. Programming does not stop at handover.

In Ontario, Think Green is an authorized Save on Energy partner. The Instant Discount on your LED fixtures comes straight off the quote, and networked lighting controls carry their own incentive on top of it, paid to you by cheque in approximately 90 days. Programs outside Ontario vary by province, and incentives are available in almost every US state through local utilities. Think Green has delivered over $15M in incentives to clients in Canada.

In Ontario, the Save on Energy Instant Discount is applied directly to your quote. There is no application for you to file.
Controls rebate by cheque
The Ontario incentive for networked lighting controls is paid to you by cheque in approximately 90 days.
Other provinces and the US
Programs and payment methods differ by province and utility, and almost every US state has them. We identify what your site qualifies for and handle the application, savings calculations or measurement and verification the program requires.
